So on last night (Thursday) I trotted off down to my local Priceline to find out more about the beauty club they have been promoting. I have been a member of the Priceline club for many years and really enjoy the vouchers I get sent for spending so much in their store so I was keen to see what would be different about this new club. I liked the way it was specifically targeted at beauty and included samples and VIP events. There is a $25 joining fee for this club but it is supposed to be donated to the Priceline Sisterhood (their charity) so I don’t mind paying that as long as it turns out to have more benefits than the standard club. There is also a welcome gift from Models Prefer which didn’t really influence my decision to join but it was better than I expected.
There seems to be quite a bit of confusion surrounding how the club will work and I don’t think the marketing material or the new sisterhood part of the Priceline website really helps to clarify. Even the terms and conditions on the Priceline website aren’t much help (it talks about a “sister club” that is free to join and in the next point a “beauty club” that has a $25 fee to join)!
It seems like a shame, as I think this idea has great potential but it seems like they have had trouble communicating the specifics of the club to their own staff as well as the general public. Maybe they will sort themselves out but when I went in to find out more about it last night most of the staff knew less about it than I did and there was no more information other than what had already been provided on their website. I decided to sign up all the same but the girls took a while work out how to put the bonus beauty bag through the register and weren’t sure what to do with the application form. They did have some sisterhood cards on the counter but they wouldn’t let me have one as they thought existing Priceline club card would probably have their replacement cards mailed out to them (they weren’t even sure of this though). I made sure I kept all my receipt somewhere safe as I can see this might be something I need to follow up at a later date if I don’t end up receiving my card!
The gift bag was better than I was expecting so I thought I’d take some photos so you could have a better look if you were contemplating signing up.
The tote is quite a decent size and is glossy black with a pink lining. The quality actually doesn’t seem to bad so this will come in handy for taking my lunch to work etc.
The smaller cosmetic bag is also a decent size and made from the same material with the pink lining. Will be handy as part of my little on-the-go makeup kit.
The compact mirror wasn’t too bad but I have so many of these floating around I probably won’t use it.
The bag also included a Models Prefer Matte Black Eyeliner and Lip Crayon in Kiss and Make Up. I also have a million eyeliners but the gloss stick looks quite nice. It’s a soft pink shade and is just the right combination of a lipstick and a lip gloss.
I don’t think there is any variety in the bags on offer. This was exactly what was pictured in the promotions for the beauty club and all the bags at my Priceline were the same.
The bag itself wasn’t too bad but I’m really hoping the Beauty Club ends up being worth the $25 joining fee. I guess time will tell!
Has anyone else joined up? Or have any idea what freebies or samples we will be offered?
Hope you are having a beautiful day!
I've never really shopped at Priceline so I won't be joining this beauty club. As with the freebies/gift, nothing really jumps out at me apart from the kiss crayon. I have so many handbags/totes etc and patent ones here don't appeal to me. Hopefully you will get some more rewards/benefits for joining up!
ReplyDeleteI might pop down to my Priceline tomorrow and see if they've sorted themselves out a bit...I'm so confused and not impressed with the bag :( They used to have much better gifts back in the day...
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the idea of being able to try out products before they hit the stands, but I wonder if all members are going to get them to try them out or if it will be a different group of members every time.
xx
oh! im so behind times these days, i didnt even realised they had a sisterhood beauty club until i saw their fb page today and your blog! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not too impressed by the goodies bag here. If this is what they are to give out I would rather keep my $25 esp since they all seem to be the same
ReplyDeleteYeah, I must say the goodie bag really wasn't good enough to convince me to join... Hopefully we get some good samples and VIP events!
