MAC Look #1

My little sister had her 21st birthday a few weeks ago and it was a great excuse for both of us to go and get our makeup done! We have talked about going to the MAC counter and getting our makeup professionally done for years now but have never quite seemed to get around to it so this worked out perfectly. I paid for my sisters as part of her present (cost was $95 but was redeemable off products after our makeover) and overall I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

The only downside was we had to sit in the middle of the store at the MAC counter at David Jones and it was very busy and noisy. The girls doing our makeup kept getting interrupted by people wanting help (even though there were several others serving) and some were really quite rude! My sister even had a customer put herself in between the chair she was sitting on and the lady doing her makeup to get the sales girl's attention. I understand this is avoidable on a busy Saturday afternoon but I think it would work much better if there was a bit of a more secluded area for people getting makeovers.

The other downside was that it seemed the artist's both did their own thing, despite both of us telling them what colours we wanted to go for from the start. I asked for a pink lip but was given an almost fluro orange one (I went straight home and wiped it off) but you did get a decent amount of time spent on each of us, almost an hour and they were also happy to help with picking out products afterwards.
I really liked the way the makeup artist did my eyes in particular, they were smokey without being too heavy and I also had a half set of false eyelashes which gave a nice effect without being too over the top.

My finished look. I had a spray tan and I really didn't like the way the orange lip seemed to bring out the orange in my skin. The lip colour didn't photograph all that well but was much brighter than it looks in this photo.
Close up of the shading and winged eyeliner that made up my overall eye look.

After phoro from when I had swapped to a pink lip, I used MAC's lipstick in Angel and Lipglass in Fresh Air.
Have you had your makeup professionally done before? Were you happy with the way it turned out?

Hope you are having a beautiful day!

  2. Yeah the pink lipstick looks much nicer =) I've never had mine done professionally, sounds fun. I was my friends model for her Napoleon class and she was new to makeup so I ended up looking like I had bruised cheeks haha

    1. I have had it done a couple of times now and I have found I often have to change something. Guess we all just have our own preferences, but bruised cheeks are never a good look! Haha...

  4. You look lovely! I hate when the MUAs don't listen to what you ask for. :(

I do agree that the pink lippie probably suited the make up better!

    1. Thanks! Kinda irritating as you're the one paying for their service but nothing I couldn't fix myself!
