February Glossy Box

I was so excited when my February Glossy Box arrived on Friday afternoon - just in time for the weekend! This month the box had a Valentine's theme and was a gorgeous hot pink instead of the usual pale pink. I have to say, I like this alot better and would love it if they kept this colour permanantly. However, once again I was quite disappointed by the products inside. I think this now puts Glossy Box at the bottom of my list for all the beauty sample boxes and unless the next one is amazing i will be unsubscribing soon. There seems to be a lot of complaints about them online and I don't think it's really very good of these companies to vary the products so much between boxes meaning some people get great selections and others are very average.

Here's what I got:

Langlois Olive Lip Balm
I already have one of these exact products from another beauty box so while it was nice, it seems a waste to get the same thing again. I think the company supplying the product shouldn't be giving the same product for inclusion. Surely they must expect many people are subscribers to both?

Face of Australia Mineral Lip Shine in Beach House
Another disappointing product, while I like the idea of a mineral lip colour, it smells quite unpleasant and I was not interested in the colour at all. I have seen these in the shops and they come in a variety of colours but this was a very brown shade with gold reflections and I don't think it will work on my skintone at all. It hasn't photograpbhed as well as I had hoped in the swatch but can't see myself using this.

Star and Rose Emergency Nail Files
These are very cute and a great concept. The pack contains 12 mini nail files and would be prefect for the handbag, if only they weren't quite so coarse. I prefer a much finer nail file as these coarser ones tend to split my nails more and don't seem to result in a smooth finish.

Polished London Nail Polish
I have heard good things about Polished London so was keen to try their nail enamel and see if it was as good as I hoped. The card inside my Glossy Box said there was a pink or red polish in boxes this month and I'm just disappointed I didn't get the pink as blue based red shades like this tend to make my olive skin look a bit sickly.

Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash
I used to use proactive on my acne prone skin for years but after a while I found it was really drying my skin out far too much. I probably wouldn't have purchased this wash myself but I'll still keep it on hand for the occasional use when my skin is playing up again.

Finally,  there was a small packet of Love Hearts as a Valentine's bonus. While I like how some of the beauty boxes include a little bonus to keep the theme of the box going I don't think it means much if the content of the box isn't up to scratch. At the end of the day, people are subscribing to the box for the beauty samples not any gimmicky extras and I think Glossy Box need to keep that in mind. There have been so many sample boxes come out on the Australian market in a short space of time and there's a lot of competition so will be interesting to see how many are around in another years time. For me (and for many others leaving feedback online) Glossy Box just hasn't been keeping up which is a shame since there are Glossy Boxes in other countries that seem to be doing so well. Did you get this month's Glossy Box? What were your thoughts?

Hope you are having a beautiful day!

  2. I think we got the exact same boxes! I'll be reviewing mine soon, I write at www.madeupmaiden.blogspot.com...I wasn't too impressed with my box either, and getting a bit annoyed with the constant drama they seem to have.

I've almost decided to drop my subscription.
