My Gym Bag Essentials

Back into my usual workout routine this week after a little too much time off (and too many treats) over the Christmas break and I thought I would share with you my beauty essentials that make those boot camp sessions that little bit more bearable! After quite a few years going to the gym/bootcamp I've narrowed it down to just a few products that save me time and leave me looking slightly more presentable when I'm done.

Here goes:

Carmex Strawberry Lip Balm
This is amazing for moisturising my lips during my workout. For some reason dry lips REALLY bother me to the point where that's all I can think about instead of focusing on the task at hand. This balm is super moisturising but also manages to give my lips hydration that lasts keeping me from having to stop and reapply.

Eclipse Mints Intense
I normally have a banana as a snack before working out but I can't stand the smell of it on my breath - one of these babies gets rid of it without a trace!

Tangle Teezer
If I'm heading straight from work I'll quickly whip my hair up off my face using my trusty Tangle Teezer. It glides easily through any knots without snapping my hair like some hairbrushes do. A little on the pricey side but well worth it to save my poor tresses!

La Roche-Posay Eau Thermale
Being stuck in artificial air conditioning/heating all day in the office can often mean I feel tired before I've even started my workout - this is my go-to for a quick pre workout refreshment and leaves my skin (and the rest of me) feeling more awake!

Bastiste Dry Shampoo in Tropical
A long time favourite of mine for saving having to wash my hair when I'm rushing to get to work after bootcamp, this would be my product of choice if I could only bring one along with me. I've recently also found it helps to prevent oily roots a bit too if I use a quick spray into my hair before I start working up a sweat!

Impulse Love Puzzle Body Spray
You're never too old for an Impulse body spray! These were one of the very first beauty products I was obsessed with back in the day (along with my trusty lip smackers!) and I still love them for keeping in my gym bag. They're super cheap and do a good job of making me smell much nicer if I need to stop at the shops before I head home to shower.

Models Prefer BB Cream in Medium
While I do try and keep my face makeup-free for working out in the mornings there are still those times when a lack of sleep/breakouts/redness means that I feel much more presentable with at least a little coverage. This is the only product I have found that feels so comfortable I don't even remember applying it, does not break me out and looks natural enough to not be ridiculously overdone.

Rexona Crystal Anti-pirspirant in Clear Aqua
A good antiperspirant is a must before you even think about heading to the gym! This helps to control sweating and the fresh scent stops me from feeling (too) gross!

Yes to Blueberries Facial Wipes
Heading to workout straight from work I may or may not always remove my makeup. Normally it doesn't bother me too badly to leave it on but if my skin is feeling dry and cakey or I'm having a few breakouts I much prefer to use one of these towlettes to wipe it all off before getting started.

Headband, Hair Ties and Bobby Pins
You may have noticed I'm big on eliminating distractions when working out! For me, it means I work much harder and faster if I'm not busy worrying about dry lips, stinky armpits or my hair in my face. I always make sure to carry a stash of extra headbands, hair ties and bobby pins with me to keep my had out of the way at all times!

Do you have any beauty products that you keep with you when you workout? Would love to hear what your must-haves are!

Hope you are having a beautiful day!

  1. Hi Sarah, I am definitely going to be adding the tangle teezer to my gym list, that's for sure :). I also use Impulse but have recently switched to their spray on perfume (, have you used it?

Also, where can I buy those blueberry facial wipes?

    Thanks, Sarah.
